AGRI INPUT SUPPLY AND AGRIBUSINESS SERVICES SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK OF JULY 25

Feed the Future Uganda Inclusive Agricultural Markets (FtF IAM) Activity is partnering with agro-Input Distributors to increase access to quality inputs and services for improved production, productivity, and profitability of farmers.

  • This week, Home Harvest, an agro-input dealer; Water and Pumps International, an irrigation business; MUA Insurance Uganda, an insurance service provider, and commercial farmers, held a meeting to discuss vegetable production. During the meeting, Water and Pumps showcased the affordable irrigation technology that can provide farmers with solutions to prolonged drought in Abim, Lira, and Oyam districts. Water and Pumps has since assessed two farmers in Oyam and Abim, for irrigation.
  • Home Harvest trained 16 village agents (three Women) on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) which include production, planning, seedling production, nursery management, soil and moisture conservation, fertilization and plant nutrients in vegetables, crop protection, and safe use of pesticides.
  • Yield harvest, a partner input distribution company, received three (3) tons of Iron Rich Bean (IRB) foundation seed from National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) and distributed it to over 200 farmers in Abim district- Karamoja subregion. Yield harvest also processed insurance for the farmers as part of their bundle package model.
