- Hamwe East Africa, an Agri fintech partner, is scaling its MY-KOOP agent-based digital platform that facilitates last mile delivery of financial services, inputs and output markets in Northern Uganda. Hamwe has contracted 28 cooperatives and 66 recruited digital agents and digitalizing its processes. These agents have been able to register a total of 15,000 farmers onto the platform and have sold 800 feature phones on credit to farmers. The transaction volume on the platform as a result of the newly registered farmers has increased by USD55,000 which is still far below the expected USD700,000 but an early indication of use on the platform. Hamwe aims to increase transaction volumes by supporting cooperatives and agents to activate demand around the peak harvest and planting seasons.
