Business Advisory and Financial Services Spotlight of the Week- INCREASING ACCESS TO FINANCE FOR WOMEN-LED AGRICULTURE SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES

Finding XY, an agribusiness advisory firm partnering with the Feed the Future Uganda Inclusive Agricultural Markets (FtF IAM) Activity under the COVID-19 risk capital intervention, received around 50 responses to the call they released last week that seeks to identify women led agriculture Small and Medium Enterprises (agri-SMEs) that are looking to raise USD 50,000 in debt or equity capital. Finding XY will be supporting these agri-SMEs with tailored business advisory and financial transaction advisory support to 10 women-led agribusinesses under Women in Agriculture Impact Investment Facility (WAII) and enable them to access finance through partner financial institutions by offering risk capital as part of the investment offer. Finding XY has spoken with investors such as Proodos Capital, Kiva, Equity bank and Centenary bank and hopes to host a webinar about unlocking investment opportunities for female led agri-SMEs in partnership with Proodos Capital.

Open Capital (OCA), a transaction advisory partner that is catalyzing Gender Lens Investing (GLI) in Uganda, started its first week of gender training sessions for the first cohort of 6 inclusive businesses its supporting with investor readiness. These virtual workshop sessions cover Inclusive leadership, Inclusive internal policies, and Impact measurement and management. OCA will offer sessions next week as well.
