LEARNING VISIT ON PRIVATE SECTOR ENGAGEMENT IN UGANDA

LEARNING VISIT ON PRIVATE SECTOR ENGAGEMENT IN UGANDA

This week of June 13, the Feed the Future Uganda Inclusive Agricultural Markets (FtF IAM) Activity hosted a team from USAID in Mbale for a learning visit around Private Sector Engagement (PSE) in Uganda. The group (12), led by the Mission Director Richard Nelson, visited private sector partners and sought feedback on opportunities and approaches to PSE as part of the development process for USAID/Uganda’s new country development cooperation strategy (CDCS) 2022-2027. As part of the visit, USAID visited three (3) FtF IAM sites, including: Bongomin Group, an agribusiness working with 700 wage workers (primarily youth) in Bulambuli; Masha Quality Coffee enterprises working with FtF IAM partner Bid Capital to improve business management and attract additional investment; and hub agro-dealer MK Farmers in Kapchorwa, which is improving last miles distribution of quality inputs. FtF IAM also supported a private sector stakeholder meeting on Tuesday, June 14 during which 48 participants from USAID, implementing partners, and the private sector gathered to discuss the draft CDCS results framework and explore how USAID can improve how it works with the private sector to achieve its goals.
